The town of San Antonio Tlayacapan
San Antonio Tlayacapan is a small town on the north shore of Lake Chapala located between Ajijic and Chapala. Despite all the foreign influence it is still a very traditional town. Its people are very friendly and it is a place where you can breathe the tranquility and relaxation of the Lake.
What does the name “San Antonio Tlayacapan” mean?
The word Tlayacapan comes from the nahuatl language and it means “On top of the tip of the earth” or “Place of the limits”.

San Antonio is located on the shore of the Lake
Chapala between Ajijic and Chapala.

Tourism as the native people of San Antonio work in
restaurants and the Country Club where many golf and the companies of Coca Cola
and the beer Corona have their offices and warehouses.

San Antonio Tlayacapan Fiesta (Festival/Fair) and other important events
Celebrated in the month of June in honor to the saint
San Antonio. This celebration brings lots of music, dances, fireworks, much
food and the exciting visitations of family members that live abroad.
Día de Muertos (Day of the dead)
This is the day that people make a big altar in the
square in honor to their dead family members.
Play of Jesus’s crucifixion
This takes place in the holy days of eastern and expect
the crowds for the special tradition played live for the locals.
